چکیده
The impact flux over the last 3 Ga in inner Solar System is commonly assumed to be constant through time. However, asteroid break-up events main belt may have been responsible for cratering spikes ~2 on Earth-Moon system. We investigate here possible variations of size frequency distributions impactors from record small craters 521 martian larger than 20 km diameter. show that 49 (out 521) correspond complete crater population this formed 600 Ma. Our results Mars both (> 5 m) and large asteroids 1 km) are coupled, does not vary between each other Existing data sets Earth Moon analyzed compared our Mars. On Earth, we infer formation location a set thanks plate tectonic reconstruction cluster during Ordovician period, about 470 Ma ago, appears preservation bias. Moon, late increase seen age signal can due uncertain calibration method used date those impacts (i.e. rock abundance lunar ejecta), calibrations consistent with production rate. conclude coupling rate kilometer-size down ~100 m diameter System. This traditional model delivering planet-crossing orbits: Yarkovsky effect slowly pushes debris break-ups towards orbital resonances while smaller grinded collisional cascades. suggests influence past D > 100 limited or inexistent.
